Infinera’s Instant Bandwidth™ offering will enable it to expand its customer base by offering options to operators that may not have been able to purchase 500G or do not need 500G right away.

Keep in mind that operators are building entire networks, and 500G of bandwidth will be the required capacity for many network routes when doing an upgrade. Yet, offering it in 100G increments still retains the benefits of integrated OTN switching and super-channels with excellent PMD compensation and enables routes to be deployed at increasing distances with lower impairments. 

This option closely coupled with network capacity deployment and customer service requirements delivers real cost savings. 

Looking forward, we expect this software- and hardware-based instant bandwidth utility model will enable Infinera to widen its potential market base and increase its global market share in 2013 and 2014.
